Keeping in mind the price segment, I have critically examined each one of the rank holders because no pro gamer would want to make any compromises at such a premium price. Our parameters are strict this time and luxuries like surround sound, ANC, lightweight build and premium looks become necessities when we refer to audio products with a price tag above 3000 bucks.
Without wasting any more time let’s get straight to our premium list of premium headsets:
Best Gaming Headphones Under 5000 INR
1. HyperX Cloud Stinger Wired Gaming Headphones
As you may already know, HyperX is brand gamers always look for in the flagship category. Also, cloud stinger is the optimized version of the cloud stinger core that we mentioned in the sub-3000 list.
- Brand name: HyperX
- Model : cloud stinger for p
- Headphones Type: Gaming, Wired, Over the ear
- Connector type: Wired, 3.5mm audio jack
- Compatibility: pc, laptops, mobiles, Xbox and ps
- Colors available: Available in a matte black design and glossy red HyperX logo
- In-built mic: swivel to mute rotatory microphone
- Noise control: Active noise cancellation
The sound
Except for sound reproduction, the stinger core performs well in all other categories. It has 50mm drivers tuned by HyperX, so you can expect a flagship-level sound profile. The bass is heavy and thumpy while the treble is also excellent. When used at high volume, firing from a shotgun or grenade blast feels real. The headphone is not optimized for high-pitched music or vocals.
The ear cups are huge(7cm) and engulf my entire earlobe providing great isolation. The padding is made up of signature HyperX memory foam which coupled with active noise cancellation gives an immersive gaming experience.
The microphone is not the best sounding one but certainly eliminates background noise to a great extent and it is also certified by TeamSpeak and discord. The microphone can be flipped at 90 degrees, behind the ear cup to mute it.
The comfort
These gaming headphones weigh only 275 grams which is a bargain for the heavy bass and durable build quality you get. The signature HyperX foam is not only soft but dries quickly which means it is sweat-free and can be used for long gaming sessions.
The looks
The matte black design of these gaming headphones can go with your gaming setup no matter what style statement it has. It features a stainless steel sliding band that can be used to adjust its over-the-head height. The ear cups can be rotated at 90 degrees to rest flat on your desk but these do not travel friendly because of their dimensions. Overall, cloud stingers carry a subtle and classy design language without any flashy RGB lights.
Pros and cons list for HyperX cloud:
2. Razer Kraken X Gaming Headphones
Another premium brand offering flagship experience in the midrange category. A treat for Razer fans and pro gamers.
- Brand name: Razer
- Model: Kraken X
- Headphones Type: Gaming, Wired, Over the ear
- Connector type: Wired, 3.5mm audio jack
- Compatibility: pc, mobile, tablets, laptops, Xbox and ps5
- Colors available: Available in a matte black design
- In-built mic: bendable cardioids microphone
- Noise control: active noise cancellation
The sound
In very few words, these gaming headphones are made by the gamers, for the gamers. Yup, I stole that from razer itself but the point is Kraken X comes with 40mm custom-tuned drivers but the most important aspect, the bass, is weak. Now, don’t get me wrong the gamer in me loves these headphones and enjoys the immersive gaming experience it provides with 7.1 surround and memory foam-based noise cancellation. The typical Indian music lover will, however, hate the weak and flat bass it provides.
These gaming headphones will uplift your game by providing accurate positioning of the enemy and alarming you even with distant and faint footsteps. Kraken X is made solely for gaming and nothing else.
The microphone is also the best on the entire list. It is fully bendable and uses directional technology to receive sound only from the direction of your mouth and suppress all the noise from other directions.
The comfort
The Kraken X is even lighter than a cloud stinger at 265 grams and can be used comfortably for 6 plus hours of gaming. The oval ear cups have soft padding as you would expect in this price segment but the sliding headband is somewhat sluggish.
The looks
With mesh design on both ear cups and plain black headband, these gaming headphones have a minimalistic style statement and it feels like the entry model of an ultra-premium brand(which it is). The important thing to note here is the poor build quality. The entire construction is made up of plastic which razer claims to be of high quality but many long-term users have reported visual cracks and bend after rough usage so keep that in mind.
3. Logitech G331 Wired Gaming Headset
Most premium-looking headphones in the entire list by a premium and reliable brand Logitech.
- Brand name: Logitech
- Model: G331
- Headphones Type: Gaming, Wired, Over the ear
- Connector type: Wired, 3.5mm audio jack
- Compatibility: pc, mobile, tablets, laptops, Xbox and ps5
- Colors available: Available in black color with red accent and silver headband rails
- In-built mic: adjustable 6mm microphone
- Noise control: ear cup-based noise isolation
The sound
Logitech is not known for its audio products and gaming headphones are not known for their bass. G331 is no different with mediocre bass but good stereo separation and is on the third position in the list of gaming headphones under 5000 bucks. 50mm drivers are high quality and capable enough to cater to a diverse user-base but the headphones lack tuning. There is no surround sound 7.1 which is a bummer but the microphone is quite good with a huge reception pad and flips to mute feature. Overall, the sound is not something Logitech can boast with their G331.
The comfort
The sheer size of these gaming headphones attracts me as they completely engulf my earlobes and at 280 grams feels like a feather on my head. Ear cups are padded with leatherette material which is another fancy word for vegan leather but the good part is its quality and density which gives a plush feel while gaming.
The looks
Here comes the reason these headphones have made their way into this prestigious list. G331 has a custom-made masculine style statement that lures many gamers. With their squared-off ear cups and heavy-duty headbands, it looks like the headphones used in the military. The color scheme used is matte black with red accents and a steel slider headband. The silver G logo on both sides looks premium as well.
4. JBL Quantum 300 Wired Gaming Headphones
JBL is an audio-oriented brand known for its sound profile which in my opinion caters well to the Indian audience.
- Brand name: JBL
- Model: Quantum 300
- Headphones Type: Gaming, Wired, Over the ear
- Connector type: Wired, 3.5mm audio jack
- Compatibility: pc, mobile, tablets, laptops, Xbox and ps5
- Colors available: Available in a black only
- In-built mic: fully bendable microphone
- Noise control: ear cup-based noise isolation
The sound
These gaming headphones probably have the best sound profile on the entire list. The powerful 50mm drivers are superbly tuned by JBL and provide rich and thumpy bass without compromising on treble or vocals. It balances the sound profile across all volume levels with crystal clear sound.
QuantumSURROUND creates an incredible spatial audio experience suitable for gaming. Gunshots, footsteps, explosions, and vehicles can be heard from a distance with accurate positioning. It is on par with surround sound 7.1 and Dolby Atmos and custom sound profiles can be created using equalizer on QuantumENGINE software on pc. JBL justifies its brand reputation with quantum 300.
The microphone is also loud and clear with a focus directional boom mic which captures sound only from your mouth and rejects background noise. It is also equipped with flip to mute feature.
The comfort
These gaming headphones are surprisingly light at 245 grams for all the features it is packed with. The padding on medium-sized ear cups is not soft but dense and durable. The ear cups cause a lot of sweating and padding is not easily dried so long gaming sessions can be a little moisty. The headband has the same padding and can be adjusted according to your head height.
The looks
Quantum 300 doesn’t look like a hardcore gaming accessory but the combination of matte black and mirror finish on the upper edge gives a serious look to these gaming headphones. No RGB or unnecessary cuts are seen which can be liked by some and hated by others.
5. EKSA E900pro Gaming Headphones
- Brand name: EKSA
- Model : E900pro
- Headphones Type: Gaming, Wired, Over the ear
- Connector type: Wired, 3.5mm audio jack, USB type A for surround sound
- Compatibility: pc, mobile, tablets, laptops, Xbox and ps5
- Colors available: Available in black, blue, green, yellow
- In-built mic: adjustable and detachable non-static microphone
- Noise control: noise-canceling memory foam
The sound
The standard 50mm driver provides good bass but weak vocals which also results in muffled voice during gameplay. The virtual surround sound 7.1 experience is not satisfying as noise cancelation is not present. The headphone does have software support from EKSA in the form of a surround sound equalizer. The microphone is detachable and yet provides a loud and clear voice without any background noise being included.
The comfort
Huge ear cups and thick padding provides a comfortable experience but a long usage means sweaty earlobes. The build quality is solid with a heavy metal framework and dense plastic body. This however results in slightly increased weight at 300 grams but even after using it for the entire day, I didn’t feel any fatigue in the neck or head region
The looks
These earphones don’t look the sexiest. The led on either side has a cheap feeling to it with absolutely no design statement and flashy lights. The headband has thick padding which provides a premium look in the upper region but otherwise, the entire construction lacks character.
Conclusion
All of the headsets listed above have their pros and cons and it depends on what you are looking for as a gamer. For those prioritizing sound profile over everything else, JBL QUANTUM 300 would be the best option. For those who want the best-looking headphones, Logitech G331 is the best in my opinion. I would personally recommend HyperX cloud stinger as it comes with a balance of decent sound profile, looks, and a logo of a premium brand.
